A mother in her 50s has been found dead in a flat in Maidstone.
Police were called out to Broadway Heights at around 1.15pm today after a neighbour discovered the body of a woman, named locally as Zeta Harrison.
It is understood the neighbour had gone in to check on the mother-of-one, amid concerns for her welfare.
The 53-year-old was found unresponsive, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Neighbour Clive Watson had helped keep an eye on Ms Harrison since she moved to the apartments six months ago.
He said: "I'm shocked really. She was a lovely woman.
"She came out of hospital a few weeks ago, a friend of hers turned up over Christmas to check on her, when she didn't answer I thought she might have gone back into hospital.
"He came back today and we went in, I went through to the living room and that's where I found her.
"I knew she was dead as soon as I saw her, I worked as an undertaker for 15 years.
"It's a real shame, I'd been trying to help check on her for the past few months."
Officers are treating the death as non-suspicious and a report is being compiled for the coroner.
Three police cars remain at the scene, along with a police van outside Maidstone West station.
Ms Harrison's next of kin have been informed.
