A man is in a critical condition in the Royal London Hospital after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Volvo car on the A20 at Leeds, on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 1pm at the junction of Chegworth Road, near Leeds Castle.
The road was closed while the motorcyclist, believed to be 64, was assessed and airlifted to hospital.
Air ambulance crews landed the helicopter on the side of the road.
The impact of the crash destroyed the motorbike and the front wing of the car and air ambulance crews reported the rider had been thrown 20 yards from the car.
Crews transferred the rider, who sustained severe facial, pelvic and limb injuries to The Royal London Hospital, which is a specialist trauma centre.
