Drivers are stuck in traffic because of work being carried out to remove the Teapot Lane Bridge near Aylesford station, which has closed the M20.
A four-mile stretch of the motorway was shut in both directions, between junctions 4 (Leybourne) and 6 (Blue Bell Hill), at 10pm on Friday and it will not reopen until Monday.
The dismantling of the footbridge is part of a project to turn the stretch of the M20 into a smart motorway.
The bulk of the bridge was removed yesterday, with the rest of the demolition lasting until early Monday morning.
Pictures taken earlier today show the progress made so far.
A spokesman for Highways England said yesterday the works were "progressing well".
He also thanked motorists for their patience, adding: "The road is due to re-open Monday morning at 6am. Please plan ahead if travelling in the region."
The closure has, however, caused long tailbacks over the weekend, especially on the A20 – which motorists are using to get round the M20 closure.
