Parts of the A249 are set to be closed for 10 weekends – in addition to the M2 slip road closures.
The double whammy of closures will take place throughout October, November and December on both the Maidstone and Sheppey-bound carriageways between Bobbing and Sittingbourne.
A National Highways spokesman said: "We need to carry out a series of weekend closures to continue our drainage works on the A249 from Friday, October 7, to Monday, December 19.
"We know that having additional closures while the slip roads are shut is not ideal, but we need to do this work to move onto the next phase of construction and keep our project on track.
"We’ll be working 24 hours a day to allow us to carry out as much work as possible during the closures."
The A249 Maidstone-bound between Bobbing and the Stockbury roundabout will be closed from:
For drivers heading towards Maidstone from the Bobbing roundabout, there will be a diversion in place via Sheppey Way, Chestnut Street and Maidstone Road.
This will bring motorsists to the Stockbury roundabout, where they can continue Maidstone-bound, or join the London-bound M2.
The coast-bound entry and exit slip roads will remain shut – and are not expected to reopen until Friday, January 13.
Meanwhile, the A249 Sheppey-bound between the Stockbury roundabout and Bobbing will be closed from:
For drivers wishing to head towards Sheppey from the Stockbury roundabout, there will be a diversion in place via Maidstone Road, Chestnut Street, and Sheppey Way.
This will bring you back to the A249.
