Drivers can be forgiven for becoming frustrated at the amount of closures and diversions but essential roadworks are taking place across the county.
Below is a list of all of the planned works on the roads in and out of Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge and Malling.
Make sure you leave enough time for travelling as lots of these works take place at the same time.
M2/A249 junction 5
Work to improve journeys take place this week by resurfacing sections of the M2 and A249.
On Saturday, March 16, there will be a full closure of the A249 northbound between Stockbury roundabout and the Bobbing junction, including the exit slip road of the M2 at junction 5, overnight between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M2, A278 and B2006.
M20 junctions 3 to 5, Maidstone: Smart Motorways
Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M20 between junctions 3 – 5.
There are currently narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 50mph in place 24/7.
On Monday, March 11, there will be a full closure of the westbound exit slip road at junction 4 and a full closure of the M20 eastbound entry slip road at junction 4 for five nights between 8pm and 6am.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction. Free recovery service and speed enforcement remain in place to ensure drivers and road workers safety.
M20 Junction 9 to 7: road surface repairs
Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M20. From Monday 11 March there will be a full M20 eastbound carriageway closure from Junction 7 to Junction 9 from 8pm to 6am for four nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A249, M2, A2, and M20.
A21 Sevenoaks: Bridge Works
Works to improve network safety continue this week on the A21 by undertaking bridge inspections.
On Wednesday, March 13, there will be a full closure of the westbound carriageway between Vauxhall roundabout and Morley’s roundabout for five nights between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via B245 and A26.
A21 Tonbridge: Weakened Structure
For the safety of road users there is currently a 50mph speed restriction, and also a weight restriction between Philpots Lane overbridge and the junction of London Road A26 in both directions of the A21.
Highways England is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads.
