Mourners on their way to a funeral were caught up in a road traffic accident on Wednesday on the M20.

The accident, which happened at 10.49am Wednesday on the coastbound carriageway close to junction five, involved the cortege following a hearse on its way to Vinters Park Crematorium, and a lorry. It is not known whether the hearse itself was involved.

Two lanes of the motorway were closed while the three vehicles were kept on the hard shoulder. Two people were taken to hospital.
