He’s also accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Amanda Francis during the same incident outside Chaucer House at around midnight.
She was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
No further details were heard and no plea was entered.
Due to the severity of the charges Roach, of South Norwood, was remanded in custody until Thursday, February 14, when he will appear at Maidstone Crown Court.
A 37-year-old man from Croydon, a 27-year-old man from Surrey, a 37-year-old man from Maidstone and a 17-year-old boy from London, all arrested over the weekend, have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Friends and neighbours remembered Mr Adyinka as a "godsend", who would "give you the shirt off his back if he needed to".
Police confirmed the victim suffered stab wounds, but the cause of death will not be established until a post-mortem examination on Wednesday.
