Two men have been arrested as part of a murder investigation after a man died following an incident in Maidstone.
The victim, in his 50's, sustained fatal injuries following the incident in Bower Place last night.
Officers were called to the scene just after 6.30pm alongside ambulance services and the air ambulance.
The victim was airlifted to a London hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Directorate have launched a murder investigation in connection with the man's death.
The two men, who are both in their 30's, were arrested the same evening and remain in police custody.
Police were initially called to reports of an assault.
An eyewitness said: "We just saw all the police cars on Bower Place, the whole road is cordoned off with police tape.
"There was at least six police vehicles there and an ambulance."
Police cordoned off both ends of Bower Place and the entrance into Hever Gardens.
People living there were told to stay indoors while ambulance crews rushed to the man's aid forensic teams searched the road.
One man, who has recently moved to the road, said he could hear raised voices and what sounded like an altercation before emergency services arrived.
He said: "I could hear shouting coming from the Fant end of the road and moving up towards the Tonbridge Road side.
"It sounded like someone's name was being called, and then all of a sudden, I heard sobbing and words like 'Oh my God.' The sobbing was really loud.
"Not long afterwards I could hear police and ambulance crews arrive and the air ambulance was flying really low.
"There were ambulance crews in the road too, but one of them struggled to get through with the road being narrow and lots of parked cars."
Another woman living further down the street said she was alerted to the incident when the air ambulance landed in a nearby park.
This is the second such incident in the area within two days, after a double stabbing on a nearby road on Thursday.
Officers were called to Tonbridge Road, near Bower Terrace at 8.40pm and found two men in their 30s and 40s with stab wounds.
They were taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
The two roads are minutes apart, but it is not known if police are treating the two incidents as linked.
Bower Place is small road with terraced houses. At the Fant end, it is near the River Medway and is regularly used as a cut-through to reach Tonbridge Road.
