A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a teenager who was found dead on Christmas Day is still being questioned by police.

Detectives launched a murder investigation shortly after the 19-year-old was discovered at Kentish Court, in London Road, Maidstone, on Tuesday afternoon.

Paramedics were called at around 1.20pm and confirmed she had died. A forensic investigation team attended the address at around 8pm.

Shocked neighbours said the teenager found dead in the top floor flat at lunchtime had only moved in with her family 10 days ago.

Today it was being guarded by a single police car parked outside. No one knew the new family by name.

A police officer was also stood outside a flat on the top floor.
