Pictures show what a new visitors centre and café will look like at a park.

Mote Park in Maidstone opened its Adventure Zone earlier this year and improvement of the popular spot is continuing.

Last Thursday Maidstone Borough Council's planning committee gave the go ahead to plans for a visitors centre, café and outdoor area.

Papers read by councillors explained how the centre will look.

They read: "The western building nearest the car park would provide toilets, a ‘changing places’ room, and meeting room

space.

"The eastern building would provide a kitchen and café including a servery hatch. They would be positioned side by side in a line from west to east."

Changing places facility are fully accessible toilets that provide enough room for someone who cannot use the toilet alone and their carer.

The existing visitors centre will be demolished.

Alison Boom, chief executive of Maidstone Borough Council said: "We are really pleased that planning committee has approved the plans for the new visitors centre, café and outdoor area in Mote Park.

These new facilities will greatly enhance the improvements we have already made to the playground and Outdoor Adventure areas and help to position Mote Park as an even more attractive destination for a day out.

"We’re working closely with the contractor and architect to deliver these brand new facilities for local people and visitors to enjoy, we look forward to seeing them opening in 2021."
