Councillor Bob Atwood is the new Tory leader in Tunbridge Wells.
The representative for Rusthall ward was voted in on Thursday night after an election among the party’s 42 members.
He was one of four candidates vying for the post, which included Cllr Roy Bullock, the outgoing leader.
Cllr Bullock was standing for re-election after losing a vote of confidence in December over the handling of plans to redevelop Tunbridge Wells’ Town Hall, the Assembly Hall Theatre, library and police station.
The new leader will be officially installed as the leader of Tunbridge Wells council at a full council meeting in February.
