New McDonald's drive-thru in Hart Street, Maidstone, opens for the first time

A new McDonald's has opened its doors to customers for the first time.

The restaurant, in Hart Street, Maidstone, was declared open by Cllr Richard Thick, the mayor of the town, at 11am.

It comes complete with a drive-thru, two order points, a selection of Samsung tablets and free wi-fi.

There will also be digital menu boards and self order kiosks.

Franchisee Ali El Hajj, speaking at the opening, said: "We are delighted to have our store ready and open.

"Having the mayor come down is a nice gesture and we're also happy to be employing 120 people from the area.

"Helping the community is very, very important and we look forward to working with them."

Cllr Thick added: "I must say I am impressed with the inside and how they have laid it out. It doesn't feel like an ordinary fast-food restaurant.

"It's also good to see them employing so many people from our town. That's important."
