Police have carried out an operation to combat illegal drug taking in licensed premises and open spaces in Tunbridge Wells.
The operation on Saturday, which was part-funded by the Tunbridge Wells Community Safety Partnership, featured officers visiting bars in the town centre and meeting people coming into the town by train for a night out.
A sniffer dog and a team of six officers carried out searches of some people.
Patrols then visited other pubs and clubs, as well as checking thoroughfares and The Common. Seven men were found to have herbal cannabis on them. Six were given drug treatment advice and if under 17, were spoken to along with their parents.
Sgt Pete Heaton said: "We had an overwhelmingly positive response from members of the public and licencees in regards to this operation and our presence on the streets. Around 500 people were scanned during the operation and the team were involved in 14 searches for drugs, finding seven in possession of cannabis. Alcohol was also confiscated from 15 young people found drinking in public.
"This operation sent a tough message that illegal drug taking in the town’s pubs and clubs will not be tolerated. It is indicative of our ongoing commitment to policing the night-time economy effectively and we will continue to work with licensed premises in the town to ensure it remains a safe and enjoyable place for people to socialise."
