A road opposite two schools will remain shut for over a week.
Parents on the school run may face travel disruption due to the closure of part of The Landway in Bearstead, Maidstone for nine days.
It came into force on Monday (June 17) and is expected to finish on Wednesday, June 26 while Southern Water carries out repair and maintenance works.
Pupils of Thurnham Church of England Infant School and Roseacre Junior School, which are both opposite the closure may be affected.
To access the school site by car, parents need to drive from the Ashford Road side of The Landway.
A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “We’re sorry if our proactive work is causing any disruption or inconvenience.
“This job is part of our regular sewer maintenance programme to ensure our assets are in good condition and not in danger of blocking up – potentially causing spills from manholes - or having other defects.
“We’ll be using CCTV robots to inspect the sewer and potentially bringing heavy water jets to clear any fat oil and grease starting to form fatbergs.
“Blocked sewers are the most common cause of pollution and flushing wet wipes, sanitary products or other ‘unflushables’ together with cooking fat and oil are the commonest causes.”
