No amount of glitz and glamour will entice actor Christian McKay - who missed out on a BAFTA this week - away from his Wateringbury idyll, he has pledged.

Mr McKay was nominated for his role as the legendary film star Orson Welles in the film, Me and Orson Welles, alongside High School Musical star Zac Efron.

But Mr McKay, who revealed to the KM that he practised many of his lines for the film in the back garden of his Wateringbury home, lost out to Christoph Waltz for his role in Inglourious Basterds.

He said: “It has been a really amazing time, but I am really quite pleased it is time to go back to work. I love being in Wateringbury, and I won’t be going anywhere.
"They want me to go and live in America, but it’s not for me. I like America, but I prefer it here.”
He said the night at the BAFTAs, which he attended with his wife Emily, also an actor, had been a fantastic experience.
But he revealed: “With the camera on you, you suddenly feel like you need to be on your best behaviour. I couldn’t turn to my wife and say “What a mistake they’ve made!”
"But I just remained enigmatic and unreadable.”
