Kent County Council employees had a shock this morning when they saw their wages had not been paid.
Staff at KCC expected to look in their bank accounts today (Friday) and see their wages but this was not the case.
A road safety worker, a teacher and the father of another KCC worker were among those who called the Kent Messenger to complain that they had not received their money.
It is thought hundreds of workers had not been paid but bosses confirmed at noon that payments have started to be made.
It is not known what caused the problem but an investigation has been launched.
A spokesman said: "Earlier today, KCC staff had not had their pay credited to their bank accounts as expected. We have apologised to our employees for this and we fully understand the impact this may have on them.
"We have contingency plans in place and this issue has now been resolved. The bank is now processing all payments.
"We expect this to be completed successfully today and staff salaries will be credited to their accounts. We are continuing to investigate why this happened and we will let staff know the outcome."
