No sparks at opening launch

Everything was geared for the grand opening: £200,000 facelift, new £57,000 kitchen, the Mayor invited – and then darkness.

Months of careful planning to herald the launch of Cellini’s Italian restaurant in Headcorn were ruined when it was left without power.

It happened as Npower did not have a meter that could measure power being used in the kitchen.

The resulting delay in connection meant the restaurant’s official opening scheduled for last Friday, has had to be put back and guests, including the Mayor, were cancelled.

But after a call from the Kent Messenger, Npower was due to connect Cellini’s to the National Grid on Tuesday. And owner Russell Sparkes (pictured above) has re-arranged the grand opening for this Friday.

Cellini's was converted from former pub, The King's Arms.
