A nurse flashed her nipple while jokingly simulating breast-feeding with a patient’s doll at a Maidstone care home, a professional conduct hearing was told.
Iyabode Makinde undid her tunic and shocked colleagues by offering up her naked breast to the dummy, it is alleged.
The doll (similar to that pictured right) had been taken from a nursing home resident who had become upset because she was convinced it was a dead baby.
Makinde is alleged to have patted its back before exposing herself.
The nurse, who was working her final shift at the Barty House home in Roundwell, Bearsted, denies the incident ever took place.
Colleague Jacky Child told a Nursing and Midwifery Council panel she had confiscated the doll from a patient who thought it was dead.
“She [Makinde] was patting its back and saying it was not dead,” Ms Child told the hearing.
“That was when Makinde suddenly undid her tunic. I was stood there with my mouth open thinking, “Oh my God”.
“To come from her was shocking. She has never displayed that behaviour before.
She is such a considerate and caring nurse.”
Makinde is said to have exposed herself 30 minutes before her shift finished at 7pm in January last year.
Makinde is also alleged to have repeatedly dozed off on duty and exceeded her allocated one-hour break time.
Barty House caters for elderly patients who need long and short term rehabilitative or palliative care.
Makinde, who could be thrown out of the profession if found guilty of misconduct, denies all allegations.
The hearing continues.
