A potential opening date has been revealed for a discount store following a huge revamp.
Home Bargains in London Road, Maidstone, will open this spring after extending into the former Argos next door.
The Home Bargains store has been closed while work is under way.
Staff have been moved to the nearest branch in Chatham until the extension is complete.
But a potential opening date has been revealed as Saturday, May 18, according to a sign at the Maidstone retail park.
The banner, which has since been removed, also announced it was recruiting.
The new extension will result in a further 543 sq m being available and up to 70 new jobs.
Plans to take over the unit next door were first submitted in July 2023 and were approved by Maidstone council shortly after.
The former Argos building has been vacant for the past couple of years.
In 2016, the catalogue retailer was acquired by Sainsbury’s. Its stores have been steadily moved into their supermarkets since.
The retail park is home to a number of other businesses, including Dunelm, Dreams and The Food Warehouse by Iceland.
Home Bargains was approached but declined to comment.
