Villagers fear their community will be cut in half by a £100 million highways scheme.
Residents think Highways England's ambitious flyover, planned at the M2’s junction with the A249 Sittingbourne and Sheppey turn-off, will mean travelling from one part of Stockbury to the other would be "lethal".
KMTV report on the villagers' fight
Currently HE has no plans for a bridge or underpass traversing the A249 and says any such addition would make the scheme "unaffordable".
The authority has even written to those living there to ask them to drop their objections to the plan as otherwise the whole project may be scrapped.
A public consultation is set to begin in February.
