A convicted paedophile – who has served a sentence for attacks on five children – has been jailed again.
Predator Gary Deveney, 48, had struck between 1990 and 2004 – and was eventually jailed in 2011 for four years.
But now the sick pervert has been convicted of a assaulting a sixth victim – after making the very young child give evidence at his trial.
A jury at Canterbury Crown Court found him guilty of six sex offences and was handed a 12-year sentence.
Judge Heather Norton jailed Deveney, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone for nine years – and he will have to serve at least six years before he will be eligible for parole.
But she then added another three years which he will serve on licence when he is released sometime in 2021.
"This was an appalling and horrific course of conduct towards a very, very young child" - Judge Heather Norton
The judge told him: "This was an appalling and horrific course of conduct towards a very, very young child."
Deveney had been arrested three years ago when he was living in Westerhamand admitted attacks in Tonbridge on four children under the age of 14.
But he kept silent about another victim and was sentenced without the judge at Maidstone Crown Court being aware he had been carrying out yet more attacks.
The jury heard how the child eventually told her parent about the vile attacks and the police were alerted.
But even though he had admitted the other incidents, Deveney denied the charges but was convicted by the jury.
Judge Norton told him that the court had heard how the girl was so young she had to describe the attacks to police officers by “writing down in her very childish way” what had happened to her.
She added: "In my judgement you have been offending against children for decades and you clearly present a serious risk to young children. You are a dangerous offender.
"I have read a statement from the victim’s mother about the family’s fears for the future and the impact on the child.
"I only hope that in time she will be able to get on with her life," she added.
