Pair forced to flee glass attack on car

A MOTORIST and passenger had to run for cover after a group of men started throwing pint glasses at their car outside a public house.

The late-night incident began when one of a group of five men drinking outside the Royal George pub in Boxley Road, Maidstone, threw his pint at a green Audi A6 as it pulled up to nearby traffic lights.

When the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle others started throwing glasses.

Two of the group, one brandishing a piece of wood, then started chasing the car's occupants away while the rest of the group kicked and jumped all over the vehicle.

Having escaped, the victims turned to see about seven men attacking the Audi.

A 17-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and has been bailed to return to the Maidstone Police Station on Tuesday December 18, pending further enquiries.

Police are now appealing for information about incident which happened at about 11.45pm on Friday, November 23, and caused damage estimated at £2,000 to the Audi.
