PC Alan Weller resigns ahead of disciplinary hearing amid allegations of secret sex sessions while on duty

A Kent Police officer has resigned ahead of a disciplinary hearing following allegations he had secret sex sessions with a woman while on duty.

PC Alan Weller handed in his notice one month before he was due to appear before a conduct panel.

The disciplinary hearing was called after a five-month investigation into the claims which first came to light at the end of June last year.

It was alleged that PC Weller would meet the woman while on duty and take her to Penenden Heath for an illicit liaison.

He alerted bosses to his decision to leave on January 5, and it is understood he is serving his four-week notice period.

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed the officer, who was due to face a disciplinary panel in February in connection with an allegation of discreditable misconduct, had tendered his resignation.

“The officer was not being investigated for any criminal matters, therefore there will be no further action against the officer,” the spokesman added.

The allegations were made several months after an apparent fling with the woman is said to have ended.

Soon after senior officers suspended PC Weller from frontline duties in Maidstone.

The woman claims the secret trysts happened over a three-month period, starting at the beginning of 2013 and ending in March.

A Kent Police spokesman was unable to confirm whether or not there would be anything to stop PC Weller applying to work for another force.

However, it would be disclosed that he resigned prior to a disciplinary hearing should he use the force as a reference for future employment, the spokesman added.
