Police were called after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Maidstone this afternoon.

The accident happened in Loose Road, not far from the junction with Barton Road, at about 4.30pm.

The ambulance service was also called in and a police spokesman said minor injuries had been reported.

The pedestrian, a teenage girl, had suffered a minor leg injury, and was treated at the scene before being taken into Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

Heavy traffic was reported on the A229 following the accident.
