Detectives have launched an investigation after a woman in her 90s had cash and jewellery stolen by a conman.
Officers investigating the report of the distraction burglary in Maidstone have issued a computer-generated image of a man they would like to speak to.
The burglary is reported to have taken place in the Snowdon Park area some time between 8am and 3.50pm on Friday, September 7.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Tracey Brightman said: "The offender knocked on the victim’s door and entered the property under the pretence of fixing a dripping tap.
"While the victim, a lady in her 90s, was distracted, he stole a quantity of cash and a gold brooch."
The man is described as white and in his 40s. He was clean-shaven and had short, brown hair. He was wearing a gabardine jacket which was either beige or green.
DC Brightman urged people to be vigilant and to look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours and relatives.
She said: "Distraction thieves can often appear very credible but we would always advise people to check their ID before they let them into their homes and to never be afraid to turn them away.
"If you are uncertain, ask them to come back when you have a friend or relative with you. Genuine callers will never mind.
"Ensure rear doors and windows are shut and locked when answering your front door and consider fitting extra security measures such as spy holes, door chains, door locks and intruder alarms," she added.
