Maidstone United have five players on the treatment table a week before the start of the new Ryman League Premier Division season but boss Peter Nott refuses to call it a crisis.

Marc Cumberbatch, Mark Corneille, Ashley Ulph, Danny Hockton and Nick Davis are all unlikely to be involved in the club’s final two pre-season games at Chatham Town on Saturday and at former landlords Sittingbourne on Monday.

Cumberbatch and Ulph have knee problems, Corneille a torn calf and Hockton twisted his ankle in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Faversham. Davis has played only 45 minutes since joining from Tonbridge because of ankle damage, having missed last season with an achilles problem in the other leg.

Nott (pictured) said: "Nick needed a full pre-season because he is short on fitness and match practice. They are all having treatment and we’ll see how they respond.

It’s not a crisis, because we have strength in depth, and the youngsters have come in and done very well."

James Peacock who got the winner at Whitstable on Tuesday, will miss the start of the season because of a two game ban for his sending off at Hythe last month.
