This is James McDonagh, the brutal sex beast who led an horrific gang attack on a defenceless young woman sleeping rough in Mote Park, Maidstone.

The picture was released by police ahead of his sentencing following a request by the Kent Messenger.

After this week's guilty verdict at Maidstone Crown Court, police revealed that they were still hunting McDonagh's two accomplices who held the victim down.

McDonagh, 40, of Walthamstow, persistently denied raping the woman, but was caught when his DNA was traced to the attack. He claimed he had performed a sex act on himself in another Maidstone park and that somehow his DNA had got onto the victim.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the two other men contact them. Call DS Graham Hooks on 01795 419161 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.

Adjourning sentence until July 2, Judge Martin Joy said McDonagh had been convicted on "compelling and overwhelming evidence".

The judge added if reports showed McDonagh was a danger, there would be an inevitable indeterminate prison sentence.
