A block of flats was this afternoon taped off by police after a man was reportedly knifed.

Wellington House, off Ashford Road, Maidstone, was cordoned off just after 1pm.

A man in his 40s suffered slash wounds to his arm in the attack, which happened in Riverbank Close.

Police are investigating and the victim has been taken to hospital.

Matt Rowbotham, who works opposite the flats, said: "A police van arrived at around 1.30pm and the flats were cordoned off.

"We were all very curious to see what was going on. The officers left the scene after about an hour."
