Police head to Maidstone High Street after man starts shouting

A man allegedly shouting abuse and threats to people temporarily brought a high street to a standstill.

Police were called to Maidstone town centre at 5pm to reports a person was using abusive and threatening language to those nearby.

A man has been arrested and taken into custody.

With two police cars parked in the road, buses were unable to get past and the shouting brought a crowd of people out onto the pavements to see what was happening.

Traffic was moving again shortly after police drove off.
