Police hit the streets for anti-social behaviour crackdown

A crackdown on nuisance crimes will see more than 100 police officers out on the streets today.

The "all-out day" will include senior officers, detectives and office staff, who will pound the beat to let people know anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

Chief Superintendent Matthew Nix said: “We are committed to dealing with and reducing anti-social behaviour and crime. This is the start of an ongoing operation and builds upon what we are already doing.

“This ‘all out day’ has two clear aims. Firstly, I think it’s vital that the people of mid Kent know that we are here to protect them and we are dealing with issues of crime and anti-social behaviour, which matter to them.

“By carrying out this high visibility operation, I hope it will act as a catalyst for members of the public to report concerns to us, confident in the knowledge that we will respond and deal with them. Improving public confidence in the police is at the heart of everything we do.

“Secondly, I want to send out a clear warning to those carrying out crime and anti-social behaviour that it will not be tolerated and we are determined to see those responsible brought to justice.

“Mid Kent is already a very safe place to live and work and we are determined to make it even safer."
