A fire which caused around £30,000 worth of damage may have been started deliberately, Kent Police has said.

A blaze tore through a disused oast house in Canon Lane, Wateringbury, on Thursday, August 9.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the flames broke out on the ground floor at about 6.15pm.

Officers announced last week they suspect the building was targeted by arsonists and are now investigating a number of leads.

DC Claire Beckett said: "A witness reported that some children had been seen in the area at that time and we would like to investigate them to see if they can help further our investigation."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Kent Police on 101, quoting reference YY/14534/12.
