Police have arrested a man after responding to reports of an attempted theft of a motorbike in Maidstone.

Officers were called at 2.50pm yesterday to an incident off the A249 Sittingbourne Road.

It was alleged that at least one person was trying to steal a vehicle, from a location also close to Andrew Broughton Way.

Officers attended the scene and following inquiries in the vicinity, a 52-year-old man was arrested less than an hour later in Jubilee Square.

He remains in custody and inquiries are ongoing.
