People who have issues with law and order in Maidstone town centre are being encouraged to gather in Jubilee Square next month.

Although the gathering is not expected to be rowdy, the burning topic will be policing in the town.

The County Town’s neighbourhood policing team will be hosting regular sessions in the square outside the town hall to hear people’s views.

They will be held twice a month between noon and 2pm. The first will be on Wednesday, August 8; the next on Wednesday, August 22; and thereafter fortnightly.

PCSO Caroline Honeysett from Kent Police said: "We have held the sessions before and they have been very successful, so we have now booked in regular slots over the coming months. There are many different ways to contact the police and this is an opportunity for shoppers to stop by and say hello and for us to offer crime prevention tips.

"Maidstone town centre is a great place and we want to help make sure that everyone has a safe and fun time when they visit."
