Motorists faced longer journey times on their commutes this morning.
The M20 London bound between junction 8, for Leeds, and junction 3, for the M26 at Borough Green, was slow due to poor driving conditions and spray - leading to heavy congestion on the carriageway.
An estimated journey time of an extra 30 minutes was stated, as traffic backed up in Maidstone Town Centre, with the gyratory system, Tonbridge Road, Sheals Crescent and Sutton Road among those affected.
There were also two way temporary lights on the A228 Malling Road near Mereworth, holding up drivers in the surrounding areas of West Malling.
This is due to a collapsed manhole discovered overnight. A KCC Highways crew is en route to repair the damage and manually control the lights.
The traffic signals on Hermitage Lane junction with London Road also went down, adding to an already chaotic morning.
Blue Bell Hill A229 Southbound was partially blocked until 7.40am due to a crash.
The accident was first reported shortly after 7am and has contributed to delays. There are currently no reports of any injuries.
