A popular mini golf in a town centre has shut for a big upgrade.
Mote Park Outdoor Adventure in Maidstone will be closed for up to eight weeks.
The adventure zone includes a mini golf course, climbing wall, sky rope trail and Segway riding.
It opened more than a year late in May 2019 because a sewage pipe under the site ruptured during construction.
Mini Dino Golf celebrates the town’s favourite resident, “Iggy” the iguanodon, who lives on a grass verge in Ashford Road.
On Wednesday (May 1), it was revealed that it would be expanding from nine holes to 18.
A spokesperson said: “Keeping within the adventure theme, the new course comes complete with a full-sized jeep, dino theme and resurfacing.
“This is a significant project for Mote Park Outdoor Adventure, which means there will inevitably be a delay to our normal seasonal opening.”
Work started today (May 7) and is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
The adventure park has confirmed the refurbishment will also affect the Sky Trail and Climbing Wall.
“To complete these works during the right weather conditions means that we have had to delay the opening for 2024,” the spokesman added.
“However, we are certain that this is the right decision to ensure that our peak period between July and August is ready for you to enjoy a refreshed new offering!
“There is a chance that we could open a little sooner if the weather allows the contractors to make speedy progress – meaning the latest we will open will be the weekend of the 6th and 7th of July.
“Please stay tuned to our website and social media channels.”
A booking system will be live from Friday, June 7. Tickets are £4.50 for children and £6.50 for adults.
The upgrade has been funded by Maidstone council together with Maidstone Leisure Trust and Serco Leisure.
It comes after plans were revealed for a new Splash Pad at Maidstone Leisure Centre.
The Aztec-themed “mini-water park” is set to have slides, water cannons and various interactive features.
It is part of a £2.5 million upgrade which will go towards improving the soft play area and gym equipment, as well as refurbishing the cafe.
