Post Office customers are facing long delays after a technical glitch shut down branches across the county.

Customers in Maidstone have been turned away from the branch in Bank Street and others are being met with long queues.

The Post Office has apologised to customers on Twitter. It said: "We're sorry for an inconvenience caused by issues with counter services at some branches this morning."

It added the problem has been fixed but there would be delays throughout the day.

Only a handful of the group's 11,000 branches were affected and an emergency meeting was called with its counter services team upon learning of the issue.
