Motorists are facing delays this morning after a power cut caused traffic lights to stop working.
Temporary traffic signals have been put in place on Mill Street at the junction with Palace Avenue and Bishops Way, Maidstone.
The permanent fixtures cannot be turned on until power at the site has been restored by UK Power Networks.
The company says engineers are on their way to site to continue progress with repairs.
It said on its Twitter account: "We have made the team aware of the issues in regards to the traffic lights and will endeavor to have these removed as soon as the work is completed."
Drivers should expect long delays in the area.
There are also roadworks happening in the town centre which have also been causing delays.
Here is KMTV's report on the roadworks causing delays for motorists in the town.
