Garry and Laura announce Project Kent winners live on kmfm

The winner of a competition to help a special community project has been announced this morning.

Morning presenters on kmfm Garry and Laura announced the Young Lives Foundation as the chosen charity for Project Kent 2018.

Teaming up with Kent Reliance, our sister radio station will be sending in a team to lend a helping hand.

Young Lives Foundation helps vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across the county.

As part of Project Kent 2018, our volunteers will be giving the charity's Maidstone headquarters a major makeover, turning the office décor into a warm and inviting environment.

The renovations will focus on ground floor rooms which are used for socialising and doing homework, as well as mentoring sessions and visitor meetings.

Neil Vickery, mentoring and befriending manager said: “This will make an amazing difference. A lot of young people don’t have access to the right sort of space at home to do things like their homework and to meet with their mentors and befrienders”
