A rapper has released a tune discussing all things Maidstone, from Reggie Kray, traffic problems and the 'Ghost of Blue Bell Hill'.
Dan Downing, who goes by the name Daniel Son, this morning posted his official video to accompany a track 'bigging up' the county town.
The video features a mix of lighthearted anecdotes as well as some harder hitting lyrics, and also mentions some famous faces who have graced our presence, including Shaun Williamson (Barry, from EastEnders) and some more recognisable townfolk.
Dan, a former Oakwood Park Grammar School pupil, moved to Maidstone from Barrow in Furness, in Cumbria, when he was just eight-years-old and wrote the song to promote his appearance at The Fringe Festival, later this year.
The rapper, 24, says that despite not being born in Kent, he considers it to be his spiritual home.
He said: "Well, I moved here when I was eight, so really all of my years growing up were spent hanging out in places like Brenchley Gardens, the skatepark at Millenium Park and in town.
"You really get to know people, local celebrities if you like, who everyone will recognise and remember."
The lyrics of 'Maidstone' include the issues of parking and rumours of a ghost on Blue Bell Hill - things that Dan says he wanted the local people to know and relate to.
He said: "I wanted to do something family friendly, there's not enough hip-hop or rap produced locally, it's not accepted as much as it should be so I really wanted the people of Maidstone to view it in a more positve light."The song also touches on some issues a bit closer to home, including the tragic events which took the life of Pat Lamb.
The lyrics state: "What happened to Pat Lamb was a tragedy, but I salute the way we came together for his family."
Dan, who has been songwriting for around 10 years, said: "It was a tragedy, when someone who is a big part of the community and is well known passes away it's unsettling for everyone but there's a great sense of unity.
"I wanted to get across the message that people are able to unite when something like that happens, and there is beauty within."
Since releasing the video at 7am today, he said his phone has been non-stop and the reaction to the track has been amazing.
