A former reality TV star who admitted involvement in supplying cocaine is facing what a judge has described as a "meaty” spell behind bars.
Jacques Fraser, who appeared in MTV's Ex on the Beach series, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court today (April 16) to being concerned in the supply of a class A drug between March 3 and June 30, 2020.
The 33-year-old, who lives in Liverpool, appeared for the brief hearing via remote link to his solicitor's office.
Fraser, who describes himself as an entrepreneur to his 45,000 followers on his Instagram account, could be seen sitting with a pair of crutches in front of him.
His barrister, Glenn Harris, told Judge Robert Lazarus that his client is due to undergo the first of two operations to his leg next Monday (April 22), with the second to take place six weeks later.
Sentencing on the drugs charge was therefore adjourned until the required surgery and recovery period have taken place.
Mr Harris also informed the court that the defence was also awaiting an expert's report on the exact amount of cocaine involved.
But at a previous hearing on April 3, Judge Lazarus remarked that it was the prosecution case that Fraser acted as a "runner" for “kilogram quantities” of cocaine.
Commenting on sentencing guidelines and the potential punishment for such a serious offence, he added: “The Crown are going to contend this is category A, significant role.
“That is a meaty sentence. The opportunity for him to escape immediate custody is pretty remote.”
However, Mr Harris replied that Fraser was “under no illusion” he faced jail.
The court was also told that even with surgery he faced "a real danger" of losing his right leg.
It is believed the injury occurred as a result of a road smash.
Fraser, who has previous convictions for dangerous driving, was also said by Judge Lazarus to have once appeared at a court hearing via link “in a state of undress from his own bed”.
However, the judge said arrangements may be made so that Fraser can be sentenced in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court, with the hearing itself being again conducted over a link to the Maidstone court.
The sentencing date will be fixed at a hearing on June 25 but Fraser's attendance, as well as that of a co-defendant who pleaded guilty separately, was excused.
Fraser, who appeared in the 2017 series of the popular celebrity “dating” show Ex on the Beach, made headlines back in July 2020 when he was spared prison for ramming a stolen BMW into a pursuing police car while banned from the road.
The same court heard he crashed the 4 Series 425d on the A2 slip road at Ebbsfleet after the chase through the village of Betsham, near Southfleet.
He was subsequently handed a suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
