A man was trapped in his van after two vehicles crashed this morning.

Plough Wents Road in Chart Sutton, near Maidstone, was closed from the junction of Four Wents to Brishing Lane after the accident which involved a Transit van and a Ford Focus car.

The collision happened at 8.15am and Kent Fire and Rescue, police, ambulance and air ambulance all attended.

Fire officers used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a man, believed to be in his 50s, from the van.

Police said he was then taken to hospital by land ambulance, with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
