There are long delays after a main road was closed following a crash involving two cars.

The A229 is blocked at Blue Bell Hill due to the collision, which happened in the Maidstone-bound carriageway between Buckmore Park and Chatham Road shortly after noon.

Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene.

One person was reported to have suffered a minor injury.

The police patrol cars have now left but slow moving traffic was still being reported on the stretch of road at 3.30pm.

Reports on social media suggested that some drivers stuck in the queues had reversed along the A229 so they could get off at a slip-road.
