A busy road is shut in both directions following a serious crash in which a car reportedly flipped on its roof.

Pilgrims Way in Eccles, Aylesford, has been shut both ways due to an accident between Rochester Road and Bull Lane, at about 6pm.

One car is involved in the crash that has left at least one person seriously injured.

Emergency services including police and an ambulance were called to the scene.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was notified by South East Coast Ambulance Service at 5.48pm of a serious single-vehicle collision on Pilgrims Way, Aylesford.

"Officers are currently in attendance along with ambulance staff and the Kent Air Ambulance. A road closure is currently in place."
