A road will be closed for at least the next week due to a burst water main.

The leak appeared yesterday in Cavendish Way, Bearsted, near Maidstone.

The road is closed while South East Water carries out repairs and the diversion is via Shirley Way, Spot Lane, the A20 Ashford Road and vice versa.

It is expected to remain shut at least until Tuesday, March 4.

Elsewhere in Maidstone, a mains leak led to the road surface subsiding at the junction of Postley Road and Forest Hill, which has shut that road for a fortnight.

The leak was the second in the area. The junction has only been open for two weeks since the middle of December due to works.
