Another traffic headache this morning for drivers as roadworks continue to snarl up the one-way system.
Work to improve the town's gyratory system began in June, and is not expected to finish until next month.
As well as the severely restricted capacity on the approaches to Maidstone Bridge, drivers are having to contend with heavy delays caused by temporary traffic lights on the A26 Tonbridge Road near Clare Park.
Overnight the town was nearly brought to a standstill by resurfacing works that will continue every night this week from 8pm to 5am.
While these are underway traffic on the gyratory system will be diverted in a meandering loop up the A20 Tonbridge Road, down Rocky Hill/A20 Broadway and back onto the gyratory system.
Last night several sets of traffic lights are not working, with drivers having to navigate parts of the bridge system on their own.
One lane of Rocky Hill will be closed at the Broadway Shopping Centre, and two lanes will be closed on the one way system at St Peter's Street.
Another lane is set for closure over the bridge by Lockmeadow and another on Bishop's Way, running along Palace Avenue and finishing at Lower Stone Street.
