Maidstone: Fire at house in Hawkes Way, Loose caused by cigarette

A discarded cigarette led to a fire which spread to the roof of a house.

The blaze started in the guttering of a three-storey home in Hawkes Way, Loose shortly after 10.30pm yesterday.

Two fire crews were sent to the scene, and used hose reel jets to extinguish it.

They left shortly before 11pm.

The cause is believed to be accidental.
