A Rubik's cube fanatic staged a half marathon for charity while completing 100 of the tricky puzzles – then went one better.
Karl Savage, 35, of Waterlow Road, Maidstone, completed a 13-mile run around Maidstone town centre, raising £500 for Depaul UK, a charity helping homeless youngsters.
He used specially printed cubes, with the charity’s symbols on. And after his run, he filmed a video of himself working on the cubes wearing a blindfold.
Mr Savage took four hours 20 minutes to complete the run, carrying 20 cubes at a time, and successfully finished 100.
He said: “I ran with two cubes in my pocket, one in my hands and a further 17 in my bag. Every three cubes, I took the bag off and swapped them over.
“I seemed to have picked the coldest day of the year to do it, but I made it round with a bit of encouragement from my girlfriend and from Facebook messages.”
He said of the thank you message, which he has posted on YouTube: “It’s really quite easy to complete a Rubik’s cube. Anyone can do it.”
