A van fire shut a section of the M20.
Two of the three motorway lanes were closed between Junction 9, the A20 Fougeres Way for Ashford, and Junction 8, the A20 Ashford Road for Leeds Castle and Maidstone Services.
The incident was initially reported by travel tracking services to involve two cars and a van but it has since become clear cars had stopped at the scene.
It is not thought that anyone sustained any serious injuries.
It happened at 4.10pm.
