EVIL Michael Everest is today starting a life sentence for the sadistic murder of an 18-year-old Maidstone teenager.

During a six-day trial at Maidstone Crown Court, the jury heard that the victim, Lee Humphreys, had not met Everest before the night he was to suffer fatal wounds at his attacker’s flat in Hastings Road, Maidstone.

Sentencing 23-year-old Everest, Mr Justice Moses told him he was a very dangerous person." He added: “You took the life of a totally innocent young man who had his life ahead of him. You told him in a sadistic way that you would kill him and cut his throat and that is what you did."

The defence submission that Everest should be found guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility was rejected by the jury.
