A would-be mugger who threatened a man with a knife is said to have a distinctive tattoo of a scorpion on his neck.
The alleged assailant approached his intended victim in a subway under Broadway in Maidstone on Saturday evening while brandishing a blade.
He attempted to take the man's mobile phone, but was pushed away. The victim - who is in his 30s - then ran from the scene unharmed.
Police investigating the incident say the suspect is white and in his mid to late 30s. He is also said to be around 5ft 11in tall, of stocky build and bald.
Following the alleged attempted robbery, which took place at around 7.20pm, the suspect was seen making his way across the bridge towards the high street.
He had a scorpion tattoo on his neck and was wearing a black and white hooded top with a large logo on the back and black trousers.
Investigating officer PC Alex Peacock said: "While investigators are completing enquiries in the area, including the examination of CCTV footage, we would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident or thinks they may know the suspect from the description given."
